Check your phone has a headphone jack

This pole works over a wired 3.5mm connection. Many recent phones have no 3.5mm headphone jack, and will need a compatible headphone adaptor for the shutter button to work. If your phone has no jack and you would rather not use an adaptor, the wireless Bluetooth model is the better choice.
