Full HD Video recording (with lots of frames)

The Navig8r Sports Cam Wifi 2 records video resolutions from 720p to 1080p. At 1080p Full HD it can shoot at 60fps (that’s like 60 individual images).  Why is this good? Well, action doesn’t stop.... particularly fast action. With 60fps, you can slow down the action when you playback the video on your TV or PC. Your action sequences will be sharper with more detail so you can enjoy blur-free footage, particularly in slow motion. This is a great feature for action on the go such as bicycling, swimming, motorsports, skiing and so on. Even better for extreme sports like skydiving, bungy jumping or snow boarding at a terrain park. You probably wouldn’t use it for a chess match, a morning sun rise or a graduation ceremony (although it would perform perfectly well). oh, by the way it takes great still shots with 8megapixels of image resolution - so snap away!

Time Lapse

So maybe you want to slow it down a bit and record one of those cool time lapse videos (where you can see a whole lot of time shortened into a few seconds). Set the Sportcam Wifi 2 to take a shot every 3 seconds up to every minute and watch time fly. This is great for speeding up things like sunsets, construction or just watching crowd movements. Just be sure to mount the camera somewhere stable.

WI-FI App

If you have a smartphone (we're talking iPhones and Android), then you know what we're talking about here. See what your camera sees in real-time and control your camera from your smartphone remotely. So say you've mounted the camera on your helmet, or the outside of your car, or even on someone else. Now you can use your smartphone to aim the shot where you want it and adjust the camera settings all without needing to touch the camera. Here are some examples: Mount the Sportscam WF2 onto your helmet. Begin your ski run / motor race / bike ride / wind surf or get ready to jump out of a plane. Simply check out the image on your smartphone, press record and go. When you've finished the action (at the bottom of your run or after the cool bits), simply turn on your phone, stop the recording and review the footage. Then you can decide whether to keep, delete or even post the footage online.

Remote Control

The included wireless remote control lets you start and stop recording without needing to touch any buttons on the camera. This is ideal for when the camera is not easily accessible (like on your helmet, outside the car/boat or mounted on someone else). The remote allows you to start and stop the recording so you only record the bits you want and not the boring stuff in between. An example might be when you're snow skiing and the camera is mounted on your helmet - you can just record your run, but not the lift ride up.

HDMI Output

What better way to watch all your action videos (and see your still shots) than on your big TV at home (even better on a big projector!). Playback is in 1080p Full HD from the Micro USB port (you will need a micro USB to full size USB cable - yep, we sell those too). You can even control the playback from your smartphone (with the app) so you don’t have to get off the lounge.

Waterproof Housing

The Sports Cam WIFI2 comes with a robust waterproof housing.  Easy to use and completely waterproof (up to 60m), it allows you to get great action shots for water sports like snow skiing, diving, surfing, or splashes by the pool. The case also protects the camera for knocks and shocks and the lens element is 99.99% optically clear which means that there is no loss of image quality or light.

In Car Crashcam

Being the leader in vehicle dash cams, we know a thing or two about car black box accident recorders (just check out our Crashcam range). So with the Sportscam Wifi 2, we have included a USB 12v car charger and a Car Windscreen suction mount as well as a clip on camera cover (so you can access the camera controls easily and keep the camera plugged in. Settings on the camera allow you to set video resolution, auto on/off, date and time stamp as well as cycle record increments - so now you can use it in your car as a Crashcam on the way to your destination as well as a sportscam - alternately use it as an in car camera for track days or motoring events.

Bonus Accessories included

The Navig8r Sports Cam Wifi2 comes with 9 bonus accessories including a helmet mount, bike mount and watercraft mounts which means there’s nothing else to buy to get your camera mounted on a variety of equipment.

4 x Custom skin wraps

So all your mates have an action camera and they all seem to look the same? We've included four awesome vinyl skin wraps so you can customise your Sportscam WIFI2  to stand out from the crowd. Choose from blue, pink, camouflage or fluorescent. The vibrant colours also make it easy for you to locate your cam in the water or on the ground (after you've been dumped from a big wave or tried to take selfies on your MTB coming off a 10foot drop off)

Lightweight & Portable

The Navig8r Sportscam Wifi2 is one of the smallest and lightest in it's class (wifi and touch screen). At a mere 72 grams with dimensions of 74 x 52 x 33 mm, The all alloy chassis is light weight yet tough enough for everyday action use. Make no mistake, this Sportscam is not a kids action camera (oh, we have those too). This is a sports action camera you can leave on your bike, helmet, water craft and forget it's there. Better still, take it with you on vacation or leave it with your sporting equipment (just don’t forget to charge it)

Run time and Power

The Navig8r Sports Cam Wifi2 uses a Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery, which is good for up to 90 minutes of normal usage. What affects run time however is use of the Wifi function, colour screen, cold weather or continually stop/starting or turning on/off and of course the age of the battery. Depending on what charger you use, it can take up to 4 hours (like from a PC) to charge the battery fully (shorter of course with a high amp 240v AC wall charger - yep, we sell those too!) . After 400 charges the run time will be less than when it was new, - probably a good time to replace the battery. Using a standard Micro USB connector, the Sportscam Wifi 2 can be charged from any USB port (like a car (included), or wall charger or powerbank or even a laptop/PC).

Files and formats

Using a the latest H.264 file compression format (recording in .AVI - which is compatible with many media players), we're able to keep excellent image quality whilst using less space on the Micro SD card (that's not included and you will need to get one of these - we recommend a 16 GB class 10 or higher). Depending on the chosen resolution and recording settings, you should expect up to 170 minutes of recording on a 16GB micro SD card.

Why do I need HDMI?

HDMI is the most widely used format for home audio and visual equipment today.  It is the simplest way to connect various home AV equipment using only one cable to deliver top quality digital sound and image.  Look for Laser products with HDMI connectivity for the perfect and simple connection.

What is the difference between HDMI, component and composite?

HDMI, Component and Composite are all ways which Audio Visual playback equipment such as DVD and Blu Ray players, connect to Televisions and other peripheral display devices.  As technology advances, new connection ports that deliver better performance are added to these devices while older connections are phased out.  None are more obvious than analogue connections being replaced by superior digital connections.  For example, Composite and Component are analogue connections and will require more than one connection cable to deliver video and audio.  HDMI is a digital connection, supporting a higher quality video and audio signal all connecting via just the one cable.  For reference, HDMI will deliver the best quality image, while Component will deliver an excellent image, and Composite will deliver a good image.

What is the difference between batteries?

The latest development with Lithium-Ion (LI) battery technology has been the introduction of the Lithium Polymer based battery. Not only does the Lithium Polymer battery last longer, the battery is no longer limited to traditional battery cylindrical shapes.  The battery can now be moulded into a customised shape to fit inside any product making it the choice for manufacturers developing the latest slimline and stylish devices.  For best results and like with all other batteries, LI batteries should always have top up charges if put in storage for extended periods of time.

What is the difference between 25fps, 30fps, 60fps?

"fps" standards for Frames Per Second (or just Frame Rate). Simply put, a higher Frame Rate means a smoother and more detailed viewing experience.  For example the old Merry Melody hand drawn cartoons could be anywhere between 8 and 12 frames per second and by today’s standards look very jolting and un-natural. With more frames per second, movements can be made to look a lot smoother and life like.  30fps looks good.  60fps looks even better.

How much difference is there between 720p and 1080p?

These are used to describe picture resolution show the number of vertical lines. In the case of 720p, 720 lines are displayed.  In the case of 1080p, 1080 lines are displayed on the screen which is probably the most common resolution on TVs today.  1080p is higher in resolution and will display a noticeably better picture.

Should I buy a SD card with the biggest memory so I can record more?

For most cameras, you want the biggest capacity SD card so you can record more.  However it is not a critical requirement for crash cameras as they cycle record and continually recycle space on an existing card.  The need to purchase a larger card would come down more to the cost differential between sizes and any possible second use you may have for the card when not in use for example as a camera card or as memory for another portable device.

What are the waterproof ratings?

IP ratings show that a product has been tested to resist penetration by dust and water. As some will be better than others at this, the IP rating sceheme provides a common definition and explanation about a products performance to standardised tests.  IP is followed by 2 digits to define the level of protection against dust and water respectively.  IP00 means no protection at all.  At the other extreme, IP68 means total protection where the first digit 6 means it is totally dust proof and the second digit 8 means protection against high water pressure and full submersion.  Please see chart for interpretation of the digits:

Designed for capturing fast-paced action, the Navig8r Sports Cam Wifi 2 records video resolutions from 720p to 1080p, at 1080p Full HD it can shoot at 60fps - this means that your action sequences are sharper with more detail so you can enjoy blur-free footage, particularly in slow motion. Connect your iPhone or Android smartphone via Wi-Fi to remotely control your action camera using the Navig8r Sports Cam App or otherwise use the LCD screen to edit, view or replay shots.

It comes with a time lapse function so you can take photos at selected intervals to create time-lapse videos and a HDMI Output to watch all your action videos (and see your still shots) on your home TV or projector. It also comes with Waterproof Housing for water sports like snow skiing, diving, surfing, or splashes by the pool.

Ideal for sports or activity with fast paced action! The camera comes packed with 9 accessories including mounts, custom skin wraps, remote control and car charger. It’s lightweight and portable and uses a Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery, which is good for up to 90 minutes of normal usage. You can also use it as a Crashcam for your car!
